Headphones for tour groups - now with FREE Shipping

If you lead tours you know how tiring it can be, constantly gathering people close to you and speaking loudly enough so that everyone can hear you.

With the Williams Sound Tour Guide System you'll enjoy effortless communication. No more shouting! Your words will be pumped directly into the ears of every member of your tour group, so you won't have to raise your voice or repeat yourself. They'll hear you loud and clear even in tough listening situations where you have:

  • high levels of background noise
  • large groups that may be spread out
  • group members who are hard of hearing
(This number will grow significantly as more and more "baby boomers" enter retirement age.)

By using these lightweight wireless transmitters and receivers, you will have a lot more energy at the end of the day. And because your listeners can easily hear every word, they will stay more involved and your tours will be more successful.

Tour guide systems are widely used in:

  • Factory and Plant Tours:
    • Tours for Prospective Customers
    • Training (on-site or at customer's facility)
    • Translating for speakers of other languages
  • Museum tours
  • Walking/Outdoor tours
  • Classes and tours for foreign-language speakers where simultaneous translations are required.
The tour guide system also fulfills the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for hearing assistance.

Due to the nature of touring a very loud facility, we need the Williams Sound Tour Guide System so our customers can fully and easily understand what is being said. We are very happy with the system.

Here's how it works:
The tour leader normally uses a noise-canceling headset microphone (as worn by receptionists and operators) attached to a small, belt clip transmitter. Those in the tour group wear belt clip receivers with headphones. When the tour leader speaks, the words are transmitted directly to all participants up to 150 feet away. In essence, the transmitter is like a miniature radio station "broadcasting" to all receivers that are tuned to the same frequency. (Both the transmitter and receiver are about the size of a pack of cigarettes.)

Upgraded Receivers and Transmitters:
Receivers and transmitters broadcast between 72 and 76 MHz. You may select any one of 17 wideband channels within this frequency range. (Wideband channels provide richer, clearer sound than other narrower band channels.)

The new R37 receiver's features include:

  • Excellent clarity of speech. Choose from 17 digitally synthesized frequencies.
  • Long battery life. The R37 uses two AA batteries which last about 100 hours
  • Low battery indicator lets you know when the batteries need changing, so you don't risk degraded performance in the field.
  • Automatic channel selector. Simply push the channel button and the receiver automatically seeks and locks onto the current transmission frequency.

The new, improved T36 transmitter has a mute switch which silences the microphone when the leader wants to converse one-on-one. Without a mute switch, the leader must either turn off the transmitter or cover the microphone, both of which cause distracting sounds to other tour members. It also has an auxilliary input (for music or recorded messages), an external channel selector knob, frequency lock (so your voice doesn't drift in and out) and a cable for attaching to the auxilliary input source, such as a CD player.

Transmitters use considerably more power than receivers, lasting about 12 hours. You may want to purchase a battery charger and rechargeable batteries for the transmitter. (See our BATKT6 under Accessories.)

Easy to Use in the Real World
Many tour guides realize they would benefit from a system like this but aren't sure how to proceed. Hopefully, what follows will answer some of your questions.

Our basic tour guide system (TGS PRO 720) contains:

One Transmitter with belt clip case and batteries
One Microphone; Noise-Cancelling Headband
Ten Receivers with belt clips and batteries
One Carrying Case - holds up to 35 receivers/transmitters

The only additional item you need is the headphone or earpiece. Since customers prefer certain types of headphones or earpieces, we have not included them in the basic system. You can choose from a wide variety listed below.

What happens if you have two or more separate tour groups operating simultaneously? In that case, we would assign a different channel for each group. You can also change channels yourself by turning a set screw inside the unit. It takes less than a minute to switch from one channel/frequency to another.

What about extremely noisy factory floors where hearing-protector's are required? We have a solution for that too. Williams Sound has created hearing-protector headphones by installing speakers in each earmuff. These headphones (HED 008) are unsurpassed in noise suppression and listening clarity.

This ultra-portable system is heavily discounted and everything is set up for you. All you have to do is plug in the microphone to the transmitter, the headphones to the receivers, and turn them on. And it's backed by the Williams Sound 5-year warranty (90-days on headphones).

Give us a call (800.260.0989) or email (info@HDHearing.com) We'd be happy to learn about your particular situation, suggest how to create the system that best meets your needs, and answer any questions you might have. In addition:

Satisfaction Guaranteed with our 30-day return policy. (Items to be returned undamaged in original packaging.)
